Starting in 1929, when Gerald’s grandfather came to this country through today, the Roux family has been synonymous with quality-built homes. Nathe, a cabinet maker by trade, saw a need for the custom touches he could put into the rapidly expanding Detroit home market, so he moved from the Montreal area to Detroit. Raising four boys, including Gerald’s father, the family construction business flourished, and in 1962 Denis Roux formed D. Roux Construction Co. Starting small and incorporating the family tradition of quality and personal touch, Denis quickly became known as one of the premier builders in the Northville, Farmington area of Detroit. Gerald (Jerry), the eldest of 4 boys, found a love of the construction business from an early age. He could be seen on Saturdays tagging along with Denis on the job sites, eventually pushing brooms and learning the family business from the dirt up. Not wanting his son to have a silver spoon in the business, Denis required that Jerry learn all aspects of the building business, and soon Gerald was framing houses. He then was doing trim carpentry work and eventually doing the “back-breaking” work of roofing.
Throughout this time, Jerry still wanted to be a builder, and in 1995, after his father’s death, he formed Gerald Roux Homes, Inc. In the 13 years that followed, he completed nearly 500 homes throughout the Detroit area. Following the housing downturn of 2008, Jerry moved to the Houston area bringing his years of experience to work with another building company. Realizing he loved working for himself, Jerry formed Monogram Homes in 2013. In 2019 the fourth generation of Roux started working in the family tradition, with his son Ryan joining the team.
Through his years of building, Jerry has learned how to truly appreciate the quality that craftsmen bring to each project.
